The IAEA’s OSART Follow-up Review Mission (Operational Safety Review Team) worked at Balakovo NPP January 18-21, 2010... During four days the experts reviewed results of implementation of recommendations and proposals derived from outcomes of the OSART mission held in May-June 2008. They forwarded to the Balakovo Plant Manager the “Preliminary OSART Follow-up Review Report.
Both missions have a common outcome of 11 good practices of Balakovo NPP experience that can be disseminated to other nuclear power plants. And the measures derived from the experts’ recommendations, as Lipar noted, were implemented on even a greater scale than expected by the IAEA representatives. The review results have demonstrated again the commitment of Balakovo NPP and Rosenergoatom Concern to aspects of the safety culture and nuclear safety, as well as a high level of training and proficiency of the plant personnel.
At the OSART mission closing ceremony, Balakovo Plant Manager Victor Ignatov extended his thanks to the IAEA experts for the joint work which allowed achieving maximum benefits in terms of enhancement of the plant operational safety.
