Completion of the reactor's main vessel installation in the vault and beginning of the reactor guard tank installation shall be the key event in 2010.
Constructors of the BN-800 unit will have to raise the above-ground part of the reactor and steam generator compartments to 45 m, and the turbine room to 34 m. Transportation of preassembled elements and installation of the reactor's main vessel in the vault will begin in 1Q of 2010. Other process equipment of large dimensions, fan units of ventilation systems, air ducts, process systems pipelines of the 1 st and 2nd loops of the power unit shall also be installed. Erection of a special building (for handling nuclear fuel) and special living building will continue. These thematic tasks were set at the first meeting of the headquarters of the unit under construction in 2010.
Representatives of Atomenergoprom and Rosenergoatom Concern management, Beloyarsk NPP, Director's Office of Beloyarsk NPP-2 Under Construction, Complete Equipment Supplier and General Engineer of the reactor (OKBM), General Contractor (Uralenergostroy Managing Company), General Designer (SPAEP), mechanic engineers (REMKO - Russian Energy Mechanical Engineering Company), and installers of Uralenergomontazh Production Association participated in the meeting.
The Beloyarsk NPP is the first NPP in the large nuclear energy sector of the country, and the only one with various reactor types at one site. The Beloyarsk NPP operates the world's only BN-600 fast neutron reactor of industrial capacity. The power unit with BN-800 fast neutron reactor is under construction. Fast neutron reactors are aimed to enlarge the fuel basis of nuclear energy sector and minimize radioactive waste through a closed nuclear fuel cycle technology. The first power units of the Beloyarsk NPP with AMB-100 and AMB-200 thermal reactors exhausted their useful life.
