An alternative licensed delivery method may be used - delivery by air. In fact, nuclear fuel is about to be shipped by air to a nuclear power plant in Slovakia next week.
Rosatom keeps its ordinary course of business with all foreign partners that respect the route change.
For example, the day before, the Executive Director of Bulgarian NPP “Kozlodui” Ivan Genov said that the turmoil in Ukraine would not in any way prevent supplies of fresh nuclear fuel to NPP “Kozlodui” or transportation of spent fuel. “In these circumstances, we have an option to get fuel assemblies from Russia by air”, said Ivan Genov. “That option has been already tested. However, the plant units V and VI will not require any refueling till the end of 2014. And using the stock, they will be able to operate until next spring”.
