On the UNECE Working Party on Gas ХХ session results

It was attended by delegations of Gazprom, Gazprom promgaz, government organizations, involved ministerial agencies and the UNECE region most important energy companies.
Jan Kubish, UNECE Deputy Secretary General & Executive Secretary, opened the session and welcomed the participants.
The session covered projects by the Working Party on Gas and the Sustainable Energy Division, as well as by such subsidiaries of the latter as the Gas Center and Ad-Hoc Group of Experts on the Supply & Use of Gas. The delegates also discussed modern tendencies, mid-term and long-term perspectives and policies related to the gas industry, including gas trade.
The event included three round tables deliberating on the underground gas storage in the UNECE countries, LNG current status and outlook in the UNECE region, natural gas market liberalization impact on gas demand and prices.
Gazprom promgaz Deputy Director General and Deputy Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Group of Experts on the Supply & Use of Gas Alexey Zorya spoke about natural gas market liberalization impacts on gas demand and prices and the study deliverables. Another Gazprom promgaz and the mentioned study expert Alisa Cherepanova made presentation on Gas market structure and pricing in the UNECE region.
The study deliverables and relevancy to gas saving, demand decrease and energy safety enhancement were with satisfaction noted by the UNECE experts.
Alexander Karasevich addressed the Working Party on Gas members suggesting launching in 2010-2012 of a new study to develop natural gas market regulation frameworks. The proposal met with the delegates’ approval, while the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and E.ON Ruhrgas confirmed their intention to participate.
