Technopromexport completed craneless installation of the drums of the heat-recovery boiler inside the building of the new power-generating unit of the Nizhnevartovsk GRES

Февраля 25, 2013

For the first time in Russia's power engineering industry, Technopromexport carried out craneless installation of the drums of the heat-recovery boiler in a closed building of the power-generating unit under construction by using unique method.

This helped to optimize the construction work at the facility.
Because of the delayed delivery of the main equipment during construction of the third 400-MW CCGT power-generating unit of the Nizhnevartovsk GRES, the Technopromexport experts had to close the boiler-room building and perform installation of the boiler drums in a closed building.
To perform the craneless installation, Technopromexport instructed the subcontractor to develop the work production plan and manufacture the equipment for the rigging operations. The equipment included a hoist, a hoisting fixture and a 10-ton hammer-head crane.
Three drums weighing 18, 30 and 60 tons were installed by the craneless method. The rigging operation began with the installation of a high-pressure drum weighing 60 tons, which was to be lifted to a height of 30 meters, turned around and installed in place with the installation clearances ranged from 15 to 50 mm. It took the Technopromexport specialists four days to install three drums.
This operation helped to minimize the loss of time and to continue installation of other equipment located in the power plant main building. Currently, construction works, and preparation for the commissioning and start-up of the power-generating unit are underway at the facility.
Nizhnevartovsk GRES is located in the Nizhnevartovsk region of Khanty-Mansiisk autonomous district - Yugra, where the largest Russian oil and gas companies are operating. The primary fuel of the power plant is associated gas from the oil fields with most of it coming from the Samotlor oil field. Installed capacity is 1600 MW. Two power-generating units of the power plant have been contributed into the authorized capital of CJSC "Nizhnevartovsk GRES", while the GRESS shares are owned by NVPP HOLDING LIMITED (NHL). 75% minus one share in the authorized capital of the NHL belong to JSC "OGK-1" (controlled by JSC "INTER RAO UES"), and 25% plus one share belong to the TNK-BP.
In July 2011, Technopromexport began the construction of a new 400-MW CCGT power-generating unit of the Nizhnevartovsk GRES. The new power-generating unit will eliminate the deficit of generation capacities in the Nizhnevartovsk region of Khanty-Mansiisk autonomous district - Yugra, which will have a positive effect on the development of oil and gas industry, and will lead to substantial progress in the effective use of associated gas from the oil fields of the region. Completion of the works is scheduled for mid-2013. The power-generating unit is included in the list of the generating facilities in the framework of the power supply agreements approved by the Russian government. Total investment in the construction of new power-generating unit reached about 16 billion rubles.
