SOGAZ estimates accident damage at Bovanenovskoye field

We remind you that on Wednesday, March 13, at 00:40 a.m., as a result of gas leak on the gas processing facility GP-2 of Bovanenovskoye field (the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, Yamal peninsula), there was a “burst” of steam-and-gas mixture with no further fire outbreak. As a result, the station building, heating network, and some equipment were damaged.

Eight contractor’s employees engaged in performance of works on site were injured and taken to the hospital suffering from thermal burns.

The liability of Gazprom dobycha Nadym is insured in accordance with the Federal Law No. 225-FZ ‘On mandatory insurance of liability of hazardous facilities’ owners’. The insurance coverage amounts to 10 million rubles. In accordance with the law, the maximum amount of insurer's liability for damage caused to the health of each injured person amounts to 2 million rubles.

‘We have already received a formal notice about this event from Gazprom dobycha Nadym JSC, and we expect an application to be received from the damaged property owner, Gazprom JSC, says SOGAZ Claim Settlement Director Vladimir Kozlov. ‘Our specialists visited the damage site and will make a preliminary damage assessment’.

According to the law, National Association of Liability Insurers performs control over expediency and relevancy of insurance settlement payments and is ready to provide any required assistance in terms of settlement of losses in this accident, says the President of the National Association of Liability Insurers (NALI) Andrey Yuriev.
