It is the first major service and Energy performance contract in the industrial sector in Europe.
The most innovative elements of the contract are the sharing of savings obtained through energy efficiency activities, the mutual protection against common risks and a “joint managing direction” of energy activities. EDF Fenice’s objective is to support the activities of Fiat S.p.A. and Fiat Industrial S.p.A. in Italy and in Spain to the best of its ability.
This contract extends a collaboration initiated in 2001, and, besides standard energy supply, encompasses a broader and thoroughly structured range of activities which include a return of investments ensuing from the cooperation of the two partners. A good common governance, deeply rooted in the founding principles of the contract, will allow a joint management of purchases, the definition of investment planning and the spread of best practices across all plants.
A few days ago, a convention was held in order to illustrate the new contract. Nearly 130 managers and directors of the three Companies attended it, representing the 25 plants (23 in Italy and 2 in Spain) of Fiat and Fiat Industrial where the facilities for production and distribution of energy are installed and operated by EDF Fenice (hundreds of sub-stations, 250 cooling systems, 140 compressors, 90 big boilers, 15 co-generation and tri-generation plants, 2 gas-combined cycles). EDF Fenice’s resources dedicated to the operational management of the contract will reach approximately 1200 headcounts.
The recently signed contract, innovative in both content and form, creates a new partnership, establishing what could be, in the future, a reference model for the entire industrial community in Italy and in Europe.
