The Vestas wind turbines V112-3.0 MW will be utilized for the Second Stage of Botievo Project that is the largest wind farm in Ukraine. The similar turbines have already been installed at the First Stage of Botievo Wind Farm, which was commissioned in autumn 2012.
The new wind turbines are expected to be supplied to the construction site by the end of the third quarter of this year. The facilities of the Second Stage of Botievo Project are planned to be commissioned by mid-2014. After the completion of the construction works Botievo Wind Farm will generate green energy for hundred thousands of Ukrainians.
Vestas V112-3.0 MW is one of the most advanced series-produced wind turbine in the world. The technical parameters of V112 turbines pose the best match for the wind conditions of Botievo construction site. If to consider a whole range of various technical and economic parameters, the given model outstrips its competitive alternatives and ensures the maximum possible utilization rate of turbine installed capacity.
“The construction of a wind farm of such size requires selecting the best suppliers of wind power equipment,” said the Director of Wind Power LLC Guerman Ainbinder. “We are glad to continue our cooperation with Vestas, a global leader in wind turbine manufacturing. During the First Stage of Botievo Wind Farm construction, Vestas has proven itself as a reliable partner, and we are confident that our cooperation during the Second Stage of Botievo Project, the most advanced wind power plant in Ukraine, will be successful.”
“We are happy that DTEK demonstrates full confidence in the quality of our partnership and technology and the business case certainty we offer. Vestas is proud to be part of Botievo II and to be chosen as supplier for another 35 high-performing V112-3.0 MW turbines for this wind power plant- the largest one in Ukraine”, says Thomas Richterich, President of Vestas Central Europe.” We are proud to be DTEKs partner and to support their vision to further develop the promising Ukrainian wind market.”
As reported, the First Stage of Botievo Wind Farm is among TOP 20 largest wind farms in Central and Eastern Europe. The wind farm construction was launched in July 2011. At the end of 2012, all thirty wind turbines of the first stage have been installed.
Currently, Wind Power LLC continues the construction of two other wind power projects within DTEK Pryazovskyi Wind Park that are Berdiansk and Primorsk Wind Farms. As of today, these wind farms are under construction of energy accumulation facilities stage. It is expected that the construction of three sites of DTEK Pryazovskyi Wind Park will be completed by late 2016.
Vestas Wind Systems A/S is the world largest producer of wind turbines. Vestas was founded in 1898. In 1980, the company started mass production of wind generators, which makes it the oldest wind turbine producer in the world. Vestas is operating in 73 countries all over the world. Vestas ended 2011 with the income of 5.836 billion Euro. Vestas has produced over 49,000 wind turbines.
Wind Power LLC is a subsidiary of DTEK in charge of wind power generation. The current portfolio of Wind Power projects in Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk Regions includes two wind parks with the total nominal capacity of about 1,200 MW.
DTEK Pryazovskyi, a wind park in Zaporizhzhia region, comprises Berdiansk wind farm (150 MW), Primorsk wind (200 MW), where energy accumulation facilities are being constructed, and Botievo wind farm (designed capacity of 200 MW). After the construction completion, Botievo wind farm will be the largest and most advanced wind power plant in Ukraine. The full commissioning of three wind farms of the above wind park in Zaporizhzhia region is expected by the end of 2016.
In the DTEK Mangush wind park in Donetsk region, wind monitoring and development campaign continues.
