Bangladesh desperately needs to increase its own production of gas

The delegation of guests, headed by the first Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Eriell Group, Farit Kamalov, was received by the head of Gazprom International's Moscow branch, Yuri Skok. Project managers and specialists in the production sector also took part in the meeting.

During the negotiations, technical issues were discussed regarding the performance of Gazprom International's contract for drilling ten exploratory gas wells in Bangladesh. The parties considered in detail the current situation of the project, where the Eriell group is acting as a contractor. The parties at the meeting have agreed upon a number of future measures for  improving the well construction process – the two currently being drilled at the Titas and Shrikail deposits and those for which drilling is planned soon at the Rashidpur, Semutang, Begumganj and Shakhbazpur deposits.

Bangladesh desperately needs to increase its own production of gas, which is used mainly for the production of mineral fertilisers and for power plants. In recent years, prospecting and exploration of new deposits in Bangladesh has not been carried out, and in view of this, the country's government has approved a programme to drill new operational wells.

Under two contracts with the Bangladeshi side, Gazprom International must plan and build 10 operational wells to a depth of up to 4050 m at the Titas deposit (four wells), Shakhbazpur (two wells), and also Rashidpur, Semutang, Begumganj and Shrikal (one well each). The depth of the first of them - Titas 20, where drilling has been carried out since February this year - has been taken to approximately 2100 m. At the Shrikail deposit (Shrikail-3 well), the bottom hole currently exceeds 3000 m.
