Июня 18, 2013

Rusatom Overseas participated in the event for suppliers Match INDUSTRY 2013, held in Rauma (Finland).

Match INDUSTRY Event was organized by several Finnish industry associations and organizations, including FinNuclear Association. The aim of the event was to promote the establishment of new business relationships for Finnish companies producing equipment for the nuclear industry. The event was held in the format of face-to-face meetings. In total Match INDUSTRY was attended by more than 300 Finnish companies as well as the companies acting as “general contractors” – Rusatom Overseas, Toshiba, Areva, Alstom, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, KHNP, etc.

ROSATOM was presented at the event for the first time and aroused great interest among the participants. More than 50 meetings were held with Finnish companies - manufacturers of the equipment and services for the energy industry. Representatives of Rusatom Overseas distributed more than 100 questionnaires in order to collect information on potential partners in Finland. Based on the information gathered ROSATOM plans to get an idea of the potential of Finnish industry and form the base of potential suppliers. Such an analysis of the opportunities for Finnish companies will contribute to the maximum localization in case of ROSATOM’s participation in the NPP construction in Pyuhayoki.

In the interview to the Finnish national TV channel “Yle” Vice-President of Rusatom Overseas Ivo Kouklik confirmed that ROSATOM is currently negotiating with the Finnish company Fennovoima on the construction of Pyuhayoki NPP in the north-western Finland. According to him, participation in Match INDUSTRY Event allowed representatives of Rusatom Overseas to get an idea about the opportunities of Finnish industry. He also emphasized that cooperation with the Russian nuclear industry would allow Finnish companies to take part in overseas projects of ROSATOM all over the world.

In April this year the Finnish company Fennovoima started direct negotiations with ROSATOM on participation in the construction of Pyuhayoki NPP. Negotiations on this project were also conducted with the French Areva and are continued with the Japanese Toshiba. The final decision will be made by the end of this year. At present, Finland has two nuclear power plants that provide about 33% of electricity needs. The first Finnish nuclear power plant Loviisa, commissioned in 1977, was equipped with Soviet VVER-440 reactors.
