The lock for such water head – 760 m - "Turboatom" manufactured for the first time. According to the chief of design office Nina Kadrova, for the Russian hydropower plants such head is record it is caused by environment conditions: "The Ardon river on which the power plant is under construction flows in the mountain district at the heights of 1730 — 1010 meters".
The equipment passed hydraulic, functional and strength tests. The parties signed Act of Acceptance - all parameters correspond to the standards.
Deputy general director, technical director of JSC Zaramagskaya HPP Anatoliy Gamaonov: "Today we accept the first lock which is separate unit of the main hydraulic mechanical equipments. The pre-turbine lock is intended for operational and emergency overlapping of the head conduit directing water to the Pelton hydraulic turbine".
The contract for the supply was signed at the end of 2010. For Zaramagskaya HPP-1 "Turboatom" will manufacture two spherical pre-turbine locks with the diameter of 2m with dynamic head of 760m and statistical head of 635m for Pelton turbines.
The power plant is included into cascade of HPP on the Ardon river in the alagirskiy region of North Ossetia. It is includes main hydropower plant and Zaramagskaya HPP-1 of total rated capacity of 352 MW. The construction of power plants began in 1976.
