Gazpromneft-Aero sees tenfold rise in overseas refueling for Volga-Dnepr Group

For the first time, Gazpromneft-Aero will provide fueling for the aviation company’s aircraft at 17 new airports in countries where turnover of goods is increasing: India, the UAE, Vietnam, Thailand, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Spain, Serbia and Cyprus.

The contract is for one year and involves a tenfold increase in the amount of fuel supplied to Volga-Dnepr Airlines and AirBridgeCargo Airlines, both part of Volga-Dnepr Group, through Gazpromneft-Aero’s overseas network, which at present includes more than 100 airports. Total fuel volumes for the year will reach more than 15,000 metric tons.

Gazpromneft-Aero provides fueling services for the aviation company’s flights overseas, in partnership with direct suppliers of aviation fuel, including the Italian oil company Eni, Hindustan Petroleum from India and the UAE’s national oil company, ENOC.

Gazpromneft-Aero is a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft. The company has carried out aircraft fueling operations and sold “into-plane” aviation fuel since January 1, 2008. Gazpromneft-Aero has been a strategic partner of the International Air Transport Association in the field of aviation fuel services since December 2008.

The company uses technology which ensures that it attains the very highest level of safety in fuel operations: Green. The total volume of aviation fuel sold abroad by the company in 2012 was 209,000 metric tons, 53% more than in 2011.

The Volga-Dnepr Group is a world leader in the super-heavy and outsize cargo market. It is one of Russia’s biggest air cargo carriers.
Cargo charter operations within the Group are carried out by Volga-Dnepr Airlines. The company’s fleet includes 10 heavy lifter AN-124-100 Ruslan aircraft and five IL-76TD-90VD planes which satisfy the ICAO requirements currently in force and those that are on the way, and can carry out flights worldwide without restrictions. Regular cargo flights within the Group are carried out by AirBridgeCargo Airlines. Their fleet currently includes 11 aircraft from the Boeing 747 family. Volga-Dnepr Technics (VDT) is the third major business within the Group, rounding it out with services for the air cargo sector. VDT carries out technical servicing and repairs (TSaR) for both Russian-made and foreign-made aviation equipment.
