Structurally it is designed cylindrical type with 20 blades . The guide vane includes a cover of pump-turbine, adjusting and lower rings, blades with a swing mechanism etc. The blades are operated by two servomotors through the swing mechanisms of the blades and the adjusting ring.
Turning of blades are provided with the necessary change of water flow through the hydraulic unit and the best for flow through the blades of runner of flow direction that increases the efficiency of the turbine. The guide vane is necessary for creation of circulation before the runner and also flow control through the hydraulic unit. The regulation is carried out by turning of the blades of the guide vane at a certain angle, which changes the flow area.
Under the contract signed in December 2011 the enterprise will supply for units station No 3 and 4 of Zelenchukskaya HPP-PSPP two vertical Francis reversible pump-turbines with the runner diameter of 2.21 m and with the capacity in a turbine mode 71.5 MW, in a pump mode - 76.5 MW.
Zelenchukskaya HPP-PSPP is located on the Kuban River. According to the first project of the plant is to be installed four hydraulic units. The first unit was commissioned in 1999, the second one - in 2002. Currently, on the units No 3 and 4 it is decided to install the pump-turbines, which may pump water to the upper reservoir from the lower one, creating energy storage, which is used at the right time. The pump-turbine equipment, installed at the plant, is intended for using as a source of peak energy and power, emergency and frequency reserve, energy and capacity user in failure hours in load curve of United Power System of the South of Russia. In order to fill the upper reservoir it is used water from the river Big Zelenchuk, Marukha and Aksaut.
