The session was led by Nikolai Spasskiy, the Commission Chairman and Deputy Director General of ROSATOM. The session was attended by Anatoly Dron, the Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee and Executive Secretary of CIS.
The session approved the draft Concept of Nuclear and Radiation Safety of the CIS Member-States and the draft Provision on the Basic Organization of the CIS Member-States for Nuclear Education. These documents will be submitted to the CIS Executive Committee for approval. In addition, the session reviewed a draft Concept of Modernization and Development of Radiation Therapy and Nuclear Medicine in the CIS.
Representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan provided proposals on the research program to be carried out at the material science tokamak intended for studies and tests of promising structural materials for fusion reactors. Besides, the session participants were reported on the work progress as to set up the Basic Organization of the CIS Member-States for Information Exchange in Safety of Research Nuclear Installations and on activities of the CIS Research Reactors Coalition established in frames of the IAEA.
The discussions were carried out in a business-like, affirmative nature.
The XV session of the Commission is planned to hold in the Republic of Tajikistan.
