The device has been custom designed and made for Belkamneft OJSC, a company of Russneft Group. Owing to its versatile design, the ShL6 rod head is able to grip a rod string not just by the rod coupling or underneath the rod coupling, but also directly by pump rods 19, 22 or 25 mm in diameter. "This unification makes it possible to narrow down the range of gripping tools used for pulling subsurface pumping equipment out of the tubing string, thereby making the job of workover crews much easier", says Anton Ilyin, Director of Izhneftemash Engineering Center.
The factory trials of the ShL6 rod head have proven the reliability of the new design. The rod head withstood an axial load that exceeded the maximum allowable load by more than 20%. The experimental prototype will be sent to the customer for field tests in early 2014. In addition to new development efforts, Rimera provides Russneft companies with end-to-end oil production equipment maintenance services. Since the beginning of 2013, the volume of services provided to Russneft by Rimera Service, the service division of Rimera Group, has increased by more than 80% from the comparable period in 2012.
