Economic benefit brought by Science and Technology Prize awarded research projects comes to RUB 42 billion this year

The 2013 Science and Technology Prize awarding ceremony took place today during Gazprom's Management Committee meeting.

Awarded since 1998, the Prize has been an integral element of Gazprom's corporate sci-tech policy aimed at enhancing the application of innovations in the Company's business and supporting its position as a technological leader across the global energy industry.

It was pointed out at the ceremony that the 2013 Prize awarded and subsequently brought to life research projects had yielded a notable economic benefit of RUB 42 billion to Gazprom.

In 2013 the first prize was won by the research paper 'Development and introduction of a waste burial technology during gas wells drilling in permafrost formations, providing for environmental safety during the oil, gas and condensate fields development in the Far North, as exemplified by the Bovanenkovskoye oil, gas and condensate field'. The paper was submitted by Gazprom Geotech.

The second place was taken by the paper 'Development and introduction of sci-tech solutions during the construction and commissioning of the Bovanenkovskoye oil, gas and condensate field'. The paper was presented by Gazprom Dobycha Nadym.

In 2013 Gazprom's subsidiaries nominated 21 papers to participate in the event. The total number of authors reached 184 persons.

The papers were assessed by a group of experts from Gazprom and its subsidiaries. The experts focused their attention on the relevance, novelty, sci-tech level (research intensity) of papers, their scale and economic efficiency for Gazprom, the commercialization opportunities, the share of domestic materials, technologies and equipment in use.
