It shall be noted, that INPP received manufacturing documentation of the already manufactured casks in the first quarter of 2011, the analysis of which showed that some parameters in the actually manufactured casks deviated from the parameters prepared by the manufacturer and approved in the Technical Design and Preliminary Safety Analyses Report. On October 2013 the Company GNS which is one of the partners in the consortium carrying out the Project B1 (Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility) provided the required documentation justifying the manufactured casks identified deviations from the manufacturer’s prepared Technical Design to the INPP. The justifying documents were reviewed and analyzed by the INPP specialists. Moreover, additionally manufactured casks safety justifying documentation was evaluated and positive conclusion received from the independent experts. After the receival of the above mentioned conclusion, the interim spent fuel casks deviation justifying documentation has been submitted to VATESI, where it will be evaluated and conclusion regarding casks constituent materials modification compliance with safety requirements and suitability for spent fuel storage will be provided.
