Pre-commissioning works have started at SGC power plants in Kuzbass and Altay being under rehabilitation

Января 21, 2014

Construction sites of four power plants of Siberia Generating Company (Novokuznetsk GTPP, Belovskaia GRES, Tom-Usinskaia GRES, and Barnaul CHP plant-2) were marked with commencement of power units pre-commissioning activities.

Those power units were rehabilitated and constructed as part of the SGC investment program.

Upon completion of basic installation works at each facility, pre-commissioning contractors proceeded to stage-by-stage equipment testing, inspection and adjustment of the whole equipment system trying to achieve the designed parameters.

Thus, at Novokuznetsk gas turbine power plant, electrical equipment pre-commissioning is running at full tilt on power units No. 14 and 15. Functional testing of equipment and individual systems is being continued to ensure operational performance and safety. Unit-by-unit test runs of the oil system and the cooling system have been completed. Some electromechanical equipment items have already been commissioned. Operating personnel of GTPP are in charge of the equipment 24-hour maintenance. As of today, 170 engineers and over 360 contractor staff are performing works at the construction site.

At Belovskaia GRES, pre-commissioning works have started on power unit No. 5. According to the approved pre-commissioning schedule, the following basic equipment of the power unit will undergo detailed testing in the first place: turbine systems, generator systems, boiler systems, electrical equipment systems, instruments and automation equipment. At the same time, operation charts and manuals for newly launched equipment are being developed. Special attention is paid to personnel training; normal and emergency operation drills are being carried out.

Upon completion of pre-commissioning works on the power unit No. 4 of Belovskaia GRES, integrated tests will start. Loaded equipment of the power unit will have to remain in service for 72 hours continuously with no fails.

Commissioning tests are still running at the turbine No. 5 of Tom-Usinskaia GRES. Atomtechenergo specialists are setting up the oil system of the turbo generator and the turbine automated control system, as well as insulation of the equipment and ground/overhead piping systems, and are testing measurement instruments, protective and interlocking devices. Tests were hold for the generator transformer 25000 kVA used for power output from turbo generator No. 5 into the mains of Kuzbass and for connection with Krasnoyarsk electric power system. Pre-commissioning and testing of switchgears RUSN 6kV and RUSN 0.4kV are being completed as well.

At Barnaul CHP plant-2, pre-commissioning activities are being performed on the steam turbine of the power unit No. 8. No-loaded turbine tests and turbine protection and interlocking devices functioning tests are being prepared. For days to come, testing of machine vibration status, setting up of the circuit breaker, and other prelaunch inspections are scheduled. Commissioning of new power facilities of Siberia Generating Company is scheduled for 2014. Rehabilitated and newly constructed power units will enable to significantly increase the installed capacity of the power system, and improve reliability of operation of the whole power complex of Kuzbass and Altay.
