Commissioning of a new substation will allow providing power supply to more than 100 9-storey apartment buildings, an ice palace of 7000 sq.m. that is planned to be built later, shopping malls, social and cultural facilities, and health and educational institutions that will be built in the new communities of the regional capital in the years to come. The project operator is MRSK Siberia which is a subsidiary of Rosseti JSC.
The first indoor substation “The Sunny Glade” is a new-generation innovation facility developed with the use of state-of-the art high-technology electrical equipment. According to the investment program of MRSK Siberia JSC, the sum invested in construction of that substation amounted to RUB 314 mln which is unique by itself since generally, construction costs for such type of facilities are much higher. In the first place, it was possible to reduce the costs thanks to the in-house construction method and some technical solutions. Besides, indoor substations not only allow reducing their maintenance costs by 4 times, but also prevent exposure to weather factors such as sleet, hail, or gale.
The substation with the capacity of 2x40 MVA has a possibility for development and upgrading (up to 2x63 MVA in the future). At “The Sunny Glade”, new-generation transformers are installed which not only minimize underuse losses but in the future will be able to provide additional power for the city.
The Altai Territory Administration staff and Barnaul Administration staff, as well as directors of the leading power companies of the region have taken part in the formal opening ceremony of “The Sunny Glade”.
In his speech pronounced at the ceremony, Sergey Loktev, Deputy Governor of the Altai Territory has mentioned that the main purpose of the substation was providing power supply to new rapidly growing residential communities of Leninsky and Industrialy districts. He also dramatized the importance of implementation of such infrastructure projects and testified his appreciation of the work performed by MRSK Siberia specialists.
“Since “The Sunny Glade” is located within the city, the main issue that we faced during construction was to ensure high reliability of the facility by protecting it against the environmental impact, and to make the substation safe and noise-free but at the same time very space effective and integrated into the architectural style of the urban development. I hope that local residents of Barnaul will appreciate our efforts in increasing the reliability of the city power supply and creating comfortable conditions for the city development”, told Konstantin Petukhov, General Director of MRSK Siberia.
Commissioning of a new substation “The Sunny Glade” is a new round in the operation cycle of the power system of the Altai Territory, a new spark for development of the territory at the expense of faster growth of the power industry.
