Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant Specialists Visited Ignalina NPP

12-13 February 2014, representatives of Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant visited SE Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP), where they were introduced to the ongoing INPP decommissioning activities, scopes of dismantling work and radioactive waste treatment facilities.

Leningrad NPP specialists have visited the Reactor Hall, Machinery Hall, Liquid Radioactive Waste Cementation Facility, Cemented Waste Storage Facility, Free Release Measurement Facility (Project B10) and Short-lived Very Low Level Waste Buffer Storage Facility (Project B19-1). Specialists were interested in our experience in long size radioactive waste treatment and work methods used at long size waste cutting facilities.

After visiting the above mentioned facilities, Ignalina and Leningrad specialist exchanged the opinions and discussed over the issues in the fields of decommissioning and radioactive waste management. The importance of opinions exchange in regards to decommissioning, relevant situation in projects implementation, its control and radioactive waste management was highlighted in the meeting. The participants of the meeting agreed on importance of regular organization of such kind of meetings in order to use opportunities offered by the beneficial practice of colleagues in the most efficient manner.
