Gazprom International: Results of work in Bangladesh for 2013

Drilling rigs, maintenance equipment and all the necessary materials were delivered to Bangladesh in the first quarter of last year, and in December Gazprom International completed and placed four gas wells in commercial operation: Shrikail-3 with a depth of 3,350 metres, producing 618,000 m3 of gas per day; Titas-20 (3,532 metres, 300,000 m3/day); Titas-21 (3,545 metres, 690,000 m3/day); Begumganj-3 (3,565 metres, 642,000 m3/day). Three of these wells are already linked up to Bangladesh's central gas supply.

In 2014, Gazprom International plans to completely fulfil its drilling obligations under contracts with BAPEX and BGFCL/SGFL, subsidiaries of Bangladesh's state oil and gas corporation, Petrobangla.

On 16 January this year, drilling began on the Titas-22 well in the Titas gas field, with a projected depth of 4,063 metres, while on 21 January, the installation of drilling equipment at the Semutang gas field was completed, with drilling beginning on the Semutang-6 well (2,956 metres). This will be the sixth of ten wells contracted.

The following wells will be constructed in 2014 under the contract with BGFCL/SGFL,: Titas-22, with a depth of 4,063 metres (drilling work currently underway); Titas-19 (3,853 metres, site currently being prepared); and Rashidpur-8 in the gas field of the same name (2,902 metres, drilling site currently under inspection).

This year, under a similar contract with BAPEX, construction of the Semutang-6 well, with a projected depth of 2,956 metres, will be completed, and the construction of two wells will be completed at the Shahbazpur field (Shahbazpur-3 and 4, both with projected depths of 3,893 metres). The sites are currently being prepared for drilling.

In 2013, Gazprom International, together with the government of Bangladesh, took steps to expand their collaboration in the oil and gas and energy sector. One example of this was the April 2013 scientific conference on Oil and Gas Exploration Technologies held at the State University of Dhaka by Gazprom International with the support of Petrobangla. The conference, which attracted a great deal of public interest and attention from the fuel and energy sector, was attended by representatives of Gazprom, Gazprom VNIIGAZ, Lomonosov Moscow State University,  Gubkin University of Oil and Gas,  Dhaka University, Petrobangla and Gazprom International.

In April 2012, Gazprom International concluded two contracts to design and construct 10 production wells with BAPEX and BGFCL/SGFL, subsidiaries of Bangladesh’s state-owned oil, gas and minerals corporation PetroBangla. The drilling of five wells is planned under the contract with BAPEX: four wells in the Titas field and one in the Rashidpur field. Another five wells are set to be drilled under the contract with BGFCL/SGFL: three in the Semutang, Begumganj and Shrikail fields (one well in each), and two wells in the Shahbazpur field. Most of the wells are directional. Their planned depths will range from 2,900 m to 4,050 m (down the wellbore).
