During testing, power engineers have tried performance of the unloaded turbine by making the rotor reach 3000 rpm. That is a standard value for such type of equipment, and it shows full readiness of the turbine generator set to withstand electrical frequency of 50 Hz which is one of the main indicators of quality of generated electric power.
While the turbine was in operation, power engineers have also checked the vibration level, vacuum and oil parameters, equipment automation and diagnostics systems. The turbine underwent testing along with the boiler unit No. 10 which has been under reconstruction for the last five months. As a result of repair works performed, it became possible to improve performance figures of the boiler unit and to adjust main production parameters up to the standard ones taking into account they are required for operation along with the new 110MW turbine.
According to the specialists, the tests were performed successfully. In the middle of March, engineers are planning to proceed to the final stage of integrated testing of the power unit No. 5. That is a mandatory condition required to be fulfilled prior to commissioning of power-generating equipment for industrial service.
May we remind that reconstruction of two power units with full replacement of turbine generator sets has been performed at Tom-Usinsk GRES as part of the investment projects of Siberian Generating Company. The installed capacity of each power unit will amount to 110 MW. The capacity gain of 48 MW due to equipment replacement will increase the installed capacity of the regional electric power system, eliminate power shortages in the south of the Kemerovo region, and improve efficiency of the whole power complex of Kuzbass.
