The rated electrical output of the first stage of the CHP plant will be 120 MW, and the heat output will be 200 Gcal/hr. The project provides for construction of the on-site infrastructure for next stages which will allow increasing the electrical output of the plant up to 360 MW.
Urgal coal (G type) is supposed to be used as fuel for generation of thermal and electrical energy. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2016.
The new CHP plant in the town of Sovetskaia Gavan has a strategic importance for a currently growing special port economic zone which provides construction of a multi-functional port and ship-repair center, container and coal terminals, as well as fish and seafood processing facilities. New capacities are supposed to replace the outdated equipment of Mayskaya GRES by providing electrical power and heat to customers of the residential and industrial sector of Sovetskaia Gavan and the nearest inhabited localities. Besides, construction of the CHP plant will be performed with due account of the electrical load of the Baikal-Amur Mainline.
