A project for construction of a power transmission line for gold workers in Kolyma may get federal financing

That decision was announced at a meeting presided by Vladimir Pecheny, Governor of the Magadan region. According to Dmitry Chernykh, Director of the Directorate for Power Facility Construction in the Magadan region at DVUEK JSC, the meeting attendees discussed prospects of implementation of investment projects in Kolyma.

According to the Governor, at the government committee session held in Khabarovsk by the Head of Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, investment projects were discussed that claimed to win federal budget financing as part of the state program of development of the Far East and Baykal region.

“In the list comprising 15 projects, there was one – development of Natalka field – located in the Magadan region. The budget resources may be allocated to create the project’s energy infrastructure. They will be used to construct a high-voltage line “Ust-Omchug – Omchak”, said Vladimir Pecheny by adding that the same PTL could be used by other mining facilities of Tenkinsky region, e.g. Pavlik mine.

The Director of the Directorate for Power Facility Construction in the Magadan region at DVUEK JSC confirmed that construction of the new line 220kV “Ust-Omchug – Omchak” and the substation “Omchak” was required for commissioning of the second and the third stages of development of Natalka and Pavlik fields. The total length of the double-circuit line will be 270 km, and the substation capacity will be 250 MVA. Facilities commissioning is scheduled for 2017. The required amount of investments is about 11.3 bln rubles, and the primary resources will be provided by the federal budget.

“Based on our investment program that is now getting approval of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, development of design specifications and estimates is scheduled for 2014. Earlier, there were offers prepared and submitted along with the Governor of the Magadan region, aimed to include this project into the state program. By order of the Vice Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yury Trutnev, this matter is now being elaborated by the Ministry for Development of Russian Far East”, said Dmitry Chernykh.

According to him, implementation of the project is of critical importance for successful development of Yano-Kolymskaia Gold Ore Province. Same for construction of OHL 220kV “Orotukan – Palatka – Centralnaya” commenced by DVUEK JSC in 2013 and scheduled for completion in 2015. The new PTL currently being under construction will provide power output by Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP to the south part of the Magadan region. This way, the load will be taken off the power grid along the direction “Kolymskaya HPP – Ust-Omchug – Magadan”. And that will allow additional 60 MW to be supplied to the gold fields.
