Integrated modernization of Palyeozerskay HPP by TGC-1 is expected to take two years

The preparation included major overhaul of the generating unit no. 2 of Palyeozerskay HPP comprising maintenance measures required for further modernization of the equipment. For the next two years, it is expected to perform integrated modernization of Palyeozerskay HPP and automation of plant units.

“As a result, Kondopozhskaia HPP staff will be able to enjoy remote operation of Palyeozerskay hydroelectric power plant units. This is a big step forward”, says Alexander Sedelnikov, Chief Engineer of the Chain of Sunskie HPPs operated by TGC-1 JSC. “According to the plant units modernization project, integration of a new control system and modernization of all automated systems will be performed (such as relay protection and controls system, generator excitation system, automated process control system (PCS)). These measures will ensure plant performance reliability and safe operation of the equipment”.

Thus, systematic modernization of plants of the Chain of Sunskie HPPs is now being performed stage by stage. It bears reminding that this Chain includes the oldest hydroelectric power station in Russia – Khiamekoski HPP using the original equipment of 1903.
