The estimated capacity of the future hydroelectric power plant will amount to more than 5 MW subject to generation of about 30 mln kWh annually, which make it possible to come into the wholesale electricity market with this facility. Construction of the hydroelectric power plant will not only raise investment into the region and ensure additional fiscal income for the city and the region treasury, but will also provide for a partial reconstruction of the waste treatment facilities in Togliatti.
The hydro power plant is planned to be constructed on the basis of the waste treatment facilities. Thus, there will be no need to build complex water power engineering facilities such as a dam, water delivery and water discharge channels. Also, no landscape alteration is planned in the area of HPP construction, and no underflooding is estimated to arrange a reservoir.
One of the main purposes of the project is improving reliability of the waste treatment facilities in Togliatti. Implementation of the HPP construction project through construction of new penstocks will improve the throughput capacity of the existing sewers.
Besides, the project is unique not only thanks to its effective technical solutions but also due to zero environmental impact.
It is also important to note that Nord Hydro JSC is planning to purchase hydropower, hydrpomechanical, and electrical equipment for this project preferably from vendors located in the Samara region.
Nord Hydro JSC is planning to invest over RUB 800 mln of own and borrowed resources in construction of Togliatti HPP.
