The above works were required to give way to the oversized barge “Yury Kuvykin” used by Lukoil for offshore platforms construction in the Caspian Sea, at the field named after V. Filanovksy.
The distance between the lower conductors of the double-circuit overhead line and the water edge was about 35 meters. The barge would not pass along the fairway without dismantling the line due to the large size of the barge. The latter has a crane with the lifting capacity of 400 tons. That crane will be used for piling of offshore platforms and installation of crossover bridges between them as well as other structures required for construction of the oil field facilities.
A high voltage power transmission line that was temporarily dismantled by power engineers closes the transit and supplies energy to two densely populated rural communities of the Astrakhan region.
Performance of the line removal works is approved by the Regional Dispatching Office of the System Operator - Central Dispatch Office of the Unified Energy System, local authorities, and the marine inspectorate of Astrakhan port which blocked the vessels traffic on the Bakhtemir river.
Over 540 meters were set clear for the barge passage along the fairway. That was more than enough to give way to the cargo.
The total weight of the conductor brought to the depth of more than 20 meters was 4.1 tons.
The OHL dismantling and installation procedure took a few hours and included flow lines cutting, sinking six conductors in water subject to special attachment to the equipment, and subsequent retrieving.
