Projects Progress Was Evaluated in the Donors Conference

The Assembly noted that for the successful projects implementation it is necessary to make all the efforts to ensure the effective process of necessary documentation submission and review within the authorities.

International Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant Decommissioning Support Fund Members Assembly discussed over the main SE Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant decommissioning projects B1 (interim Spent Fuel Storage facility) and B34 (Solid Radioactive Waste Treatment and Management Facilities) implementation issues in London.

European Commission and Assembly positively evaluated the progress in solving the projects implementation related issues in the Donors Conference and encouraged to maintain the same pace of works in the future. It was also stated that the constructive dialog between the Enterprise and the Contractor and readiness to resolve all arising issues as soon as possible is the best guarantee for further faster projects implementation.

It was highlighted that operation of facilities must start as soon as possible after documents submitted for review and approval to the responsible authorities are received because these facilities are effecting the whole decommissioning process.
