“Launch of the third unit is now being prepared on the twenty-four-hour basis. A milestone event was energizing of the power transmission line 220kV “Nyagan GRES – Kartopia” with the operating voltage along with FGC UES. A transmission line which is 214 km long will supply commercial power from the unit to the power system until the end of this year”, says Mikhail Shabalin, Vice-President and Executive Director at Fortum JSC in the Khanty-Mansyisk region.
During commissioning, an ignition test of the gas turbine was carried out with further adjustment of combustion modes. Also, electrical tests are currently being performed as well as synchronization of operation of the outdoor switchgear (OSG), the unit equipment, and off-site power transmission lines. Shortly, energizing and setup of the steam turbine will be performed after blowdown of the boiler and steam lines of the power unit.
Integrated and qualification tests of the power unit 3 of Nyagan GRES are scheduled for this September.
Construction of Nyagan GRES (Nyagan, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Region-Yugra) is being performed as part of Fortum’s investment program. As of today, works are in progress at two power units with total capacity of 846 MW that were commissioned for commercial service in 2013. Upon commissioning of the power unit 3 PGU-420, total capacity of the power plant will exceed 1250 MW.
