The commissioned combined-cycle gas turbine is the most energy efficient and environmentally friendly power generating equipment in the region.
The plant upgrade will result in increasing its electrical capacity by more than twice and will also improve the energy efficiency and reliability of thermal power supply to the city of Kirovo-Chepetsk with a population of over 80 thousand. Construction of the new power unit at Kirovskaia CHPP-3 is a part of the investment program of KES Holding that covers commissioning of over 3.2 GW of new capacities. The investment program includes 18 priority projects that are supposed to be completed by 2017. As of today, 13 facilities of the total power of 1.76 GW have already been commissioned as part of the program. The total amount of the investment program of KES Holding is about 140 bln rubles.
In the year when the Olympics were held in Russia, KES Holding sets its own records – power records. As many as 8 new power facilities will be commissioned in 2014. A symbolic “Race of KES Power Records” started in February of this year by commissioning of a new power unit at Permskaya CHPP-9 and commencement of construction of Akademicheskaya CHPP in Ekaterinburg. The next race legs were commissioning of power units at Kirovskaya CHPP-4, Novocheboksarskaya CHPP-3, Izhevskaya CHPP-1, and Vladimirskaya CHPP-2.
