During assembly of the autotransformer, special attention is being paid to quality of process operations. They are being performed under the supervision of an ABB engineering supervisor and will last until November 2014. The works are performed as part of the Complex Modernization Program launched by RusHydro.
The autotransformer T6 meets modern safety requirements and is environmentally friendly. Thanks to the stat-of-the-art design solutions, the quantity of oil required for the transformer tanks will be half as much. Besides, the new autotransformer capacity will increase 1.5 times compared to the previous one (360 MVA and 240 MVA respectively). This will create a technical possibility to replace hydroelectric generators at Novosibirskaya HEPP with more powerful ones.
The purpose of the autotransformer T6 is to deliver power from the hydroelectric generators No. 6 and 7, and to ensure power exchange between the 110kV and 220kV networks of the electric power system of the Novosibirsk region. The remaining five out of seven hydroelectric generators of Novosibirskaya HEPP are connected to the outdoor switchgear 110kV, each via an individual unit transformer. Five unit transformers were replaced back in 2010.
Thanks to the installation of a new autotransformer, the power system of the Novosibirsk region will enjoy not only more environmentally friendly equipment but also a significant improvement of performance reliability of the sole hydroelectric power plant in the West Siberia.
By 2020, new turbines with improved operating performance will be installed at Novosibirskaya HEPP. As a result, the rated power output of the plant will increase by 35 MW, and in the future, after replacement of the generators, it will be possible to increase the plant’s capacity by another 70 MW.
