Turboatom has manufactured the first case of a condenser for Balakovskaya NPP

The check assembly of the first case was handed over to the customer. After inspection of welded joints by dye penetrant flaw detection, ultrasonics and pneumatic tests the equipment was sent for packaging and shipping.

The second case without cooling tubes is being performed the check assembly. Then stuffing with tubes, their beading and seal welding will be carried out followed by the final check assembly and it will be handed over to the customer.

Under the contract signed in July 2013, OJSC "Turboatom" shall replace a condenser of the turbine with the capacity of 1000 MW of Balakovskaya NPP, tube systems of modular type condenser are performed ​​using titanium cooling tubes and titanium clad outer tube plates. The condenser consists of three cases including 6 modules in each one.

Resulting from the works carried out, the turbine capacity is expected to increase by 5 MW, its reliability and efficiency are likely to increase. The manufacture of equipment is scheduled to be completed in January 2015.
