The main reason for the above mentioned handover was the change in INPP activities nature; decommissioning enhanced the reduction of significant number of employees and termination of certain technological processes. In the light of these changes, the handover is rational and reasonable as part of the Enterprise managed state-owned real estate became not necessary for implementation of the Enterprise activities.
INPP does not use this real estate as per intended purpose and management of such property is incompatible with the objective of more rational and efficient use of the Enterprise funds and does not comply with the purposes of the Enterprise activities. For instance, the Enterprise employees’ training is being organized in the administrative premises, other buildings for training are not needed and its usage would be impractical, - said INPP Director General Darius Janulevicius.
The main objectives of INPP is sufficient and safe decommissioning and radioactive waste treatment, management and storage by taking the most efficient and consistent measures and rational usage of funds allocated for INPP decommissioning, due to that, the above mentioned facility is not needed for the Enterprise functions implementation. On the other hand, after the handover the Municipality has all the conditions for taking a new step in the facility’s operation and development of new activities. The Training Center may be effectively used for community needs or may help in implementation of such functions as organizing education or occupational activities, maintaining residents’ cultural needs, enhancement of ethnic cultural activities, development of business and tourism in the region, organization of residents resort etc.
