During 2014, specialists from Gazprom International brought four new wells onstream and repaired seven wells, increasing the field's maximum daily gas yield to 950,000 cubic metres. In this way, the number of functioning production wells at Shakhpakhty has been brought up to 24.
As at 1 January 2015, the total volume of gas produced at the field since 2004 will be more than 2.8 billion cubic metres.
Shakhpakhty, a gas condensate field in Uzbekistan located in the south-eastern part of the Ustyurt Plateau in the Republic of Karakalpakstan's Kungrad District, was discovered in 1962. Since it went into operation, 36.5 billion cubic metres of gas have been extracted, about 78.5% of initially confirmed reserves. At present, Shakhpakhty's extractable reserves are estimated at approximately 8 billion cubic metres.
The reconstruction and redevelopment of Shakhpakhty is Gazprom International's pilot project in the Republic of Uzbekistan, based on a 15-year production-sharing agreement signed in 2004.
Since 2004, under a licence to develop four productive strata in the field, work has been underway to overhaul the wells and extract the raw product.
The gas produced at Shakhpakhty is delivered to the Karakalpaksky compressor station and then through the Central Asia-Centre gas pipeline to consumers.
