The Technical Condition of the Pipeline Transportation Facilities of Transneft Siberia is Under Control

The inner body of the pipe was inspected with the help of different types of diagnostic tools (ultrasonic, magnetic and combined flaw detectors).

Based on the in-line inspection results, the company prepared a repair program for the linear part of the oil pipelines. During the implementation of the plan in 2014, the employees of the contracting companies and crews of the line emergency response services (LERS) of the company’s subdivisions eliminated 22 defects by using the cut-out technique. The reliability of another 905 sections of the linear part was improved by mounting of repair elements on the pipe.

215 oil trunk pipeline underwater crossings (OTPLUWC) were inspected to check the technical condition of the oil pipelines at the points where they cross water bodies. Out of them, 190 crossings were thoroughly inspected, while partial inspection was conducted on 25 crossings. After the inspection, the company received 215 reports confirming the compliance of the OTPLUWC condition with the requirements set forth in the technical rules and regulations as well as with the safe service life. In 2014, the company also conducted diagnostic inspection of 10 PIG traps in the oil trunk pipelines.

In addition to the inspection and repair works on the linear part, the company conducted a large amount of inspection work at its oil pump stations, including the scheduled inspection of the tank farm. In 2014, the company inspected 30 tanks, out of them 16 tanks were inspected in full and 14 tanks were inspected partially. At present, the park consists of 171 tanks having the total capacity of more than 2.9 million cubic meters.

Besides, at 14 oil pump stations the company conducted diagnostic inspection of the process and auxiliary pipelines, manifolds of main pump units, and pressure pipelines, including complete stripping of the insulation.

The consistent measures implemented by Transneft, JSC, to improve the existing system of oil trunk pipelines make it possible to increase the level of reliability and safety of the pipeline transportation facilities.
