The contract was awarded to the international consortium, led by Power Machines of Russia.
The consortium will act as the General Contractor under the contract.
The new Vietnamese TPP will help to reduce the hydro generation share in the nation’s electric power system, thereby reducing power outage risk in dry season.
The project is scheduled to be completed in 2019. Power Machines will have their local office opened for the construction period in February 2015. In addition, Power Machines’ office in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, has returned to business since 2014.
The power market of Vietnam offers great opportunities for Power Machines. The company has been operating in Vietnamese market since the mid 1960s, as the construction of 108 MW Thac Ba HPP began and continued until 1967. Further operations included such projects as Uong Bi TPP (1975 – 1977), Pha Lai TPP (1983 – 1986), Tri An HPP (1986), Hoa Binh HPP (1986 – 1992), Yali HPP (1997 – 2000), and Can Don HPP (2003).
The capacity of equipment manufactured by Power Machines Group for Vietnamese power plants over the last 40 years has totaled more than 4 GW.
