Марта 02, 2015

OJSC “Turboatom” visited former specialists “Yuzhelectromontazh” Aleksandr Gorlov, helped restore plant after Great Patriotic War.

At the beginning of war almost all manufacturing enterprises were evacuated and transported deep in the rear. Among such enterprises was “Turboatom”.

Work at enterprise was shut down just in three days before occupation of Kharkov at the same time evacuation process was in full swing. When war was over it was necessary to restore not only city but what reminded of enterprise. Destroyed buildings, absence of equipment and 78 died plant workers – all this terrible consequences of war. Everyone took part in restoration of city and enterprises. Among those who helped Turbine plant to reborn was young employee of “Yuzhelectromontazh” Aleksandr Grigorievich Gorlov. The other day he visited plant which he helped to restore in far 1946, to transfer to historical museum of Enterprise “Honors” for assistance in restoration of plant.

With his grandson, employee DWP (Department of Work with Personnel) Adnrey Gorlov, Aleksandr Grigorievich walked through steam turbine workshop No 53 to refresh memories. But time is inexorably, and everything around seems new and unfamiliar to our guest.

Thenadays Aleksandr Grigorievich worked on installation of electrical units for supply of machine tools and other equipment with electricity. He remembers that workshop was deplorable: “There was no roof at all. And on the second floor were made shelters inside of which were three machine tools for blades milling”. According to veteran working conditions were poor – due to broken windows there was very cold and windy inside. Workers warm themselves mostly with cast-iron moveable wood stove do-it-themselves.

“Floors in workshops were covered with wooden blocks, - tells Aleksandr Grigorievich - and  cast-iron moveable wood stove resulted that at the end of evening everyone had black faces because of soot and it was almost impossible to breathe”.
