Environment Policy Measures of Transneft Urals

Апреля 10, 2015

Preservation of the environment and minimization of the impact on the environment as well as provision for environmental safety and rational management are one of the priorities of Transneft Urals, JSC.

Pursuant to the environmental policy approved by Transneft, JSC, sewage treatment facilities for production and storm water at Leninsk LODS (with a capacity of 230 cubic meters per day) and sewage treatment facilities for production and storm water and household wastewater at Cherkassy LODS (with a capacity of 480 cubic meters per day) were reconstructed in 2014. The upgraded sewage treatment facilities can prevent a negative impact on surface and ground water bodies.

Overall, 16 local emergency oil spill (LEOS) response stations are under the economic supervision of Transneft Urals, JSC. For their equipment 1,192 kg of sorbents, 2 skimmers with a design capacity of 30 cubic meters / hour, 10 tanks for collection and storage of oil, and 400 meters of oil-spill booms were additionally acquired in 2014.

The Environmental Management System (EMS) was introduced in Transneft Urals, JSC in 2004 and is certified for compliance with the ISO 14001:2004 international standard by the auditors of the German Certification Body for DQS Management Systems. In 2014, the Eastern Production Directorate and Kurgan Oil Trunk Pipeline Department of Transneft Urals, JSC held an inspection audit of the Environmental Management System of the company. The auditors’ opinion has confirmed the high level of competence of the management team and the entire personnel of the company. Moreover, the audit has confirmed compliance of the existing Environmental Management System of Transneft Urals, JSC with the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 in the field of transportation of both oil and oil products.

In addition, Transneft Urals, JSC repeatedly held fish-breeding and reclamation work (the release of juveniles of valuable fish species into the waters of the region) in 2014. Overall, more than 400,000 pieces of juvenile fish, including more than 350 thousand pieces of juvenile sturgeon, were released into the rivers in Bashkortostan in 2014.

Each release of juvenile fish into a water body is preceded by an extensive preparatory work. Purchase of juvenile fishes is carried out from the Karmanovsky fish farm, which is a leading fish farm in Bashkortostan. Specialists of the fish farm provide for the fully intact delivery of juvenile fishes to the place of release in Dyurtyulinsk District of the Republic. The adoption of all the required measures provides for a high survival rate of juvenile fish in water bodies.
