STG will carry out its work as part of the repayment of the outstanding debt between the former USSR and the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY), of which Macedonia was a member. The cost of the project amounts to $75.7 million, in accordance with the Intergovernmental Agreement on Settlement of Turnover-Related Liabilities, which was signed on June 19, 2010.The Klečovce-Negotino line will become part of a new gas pipeline system, its construction is important for development of the country in social and economic areas, strengthening of its energetic capacities and solution of the ecological and other problems.
The contract, which was signed by STG with Macedonian Energy Resources JSC (МЕР АД Скопје), has passed all internal regulatory procedures and was adopted for financing by the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation before entering into force. To implement the project, a branch of STG PJSC was established in Macedonia.
