By bestowing the accolade in the category "International Communication," the 30 experts on the jury honored the extensive internal and external communication by Germany's largest internationally active crude oil and natural gas producer surrounding the recent transactions with Statoil. Wintershall has increased daily production in Norway from 3,000 to a current level of 60,000 barrels of oil equivalent. The workforce has risen from 200 to 500. That represents a huge challenge for the company – also in regards to communication.
"We are here to stay" – that is the slogan that has been recurrently used by Wintershall in its communication with policymakers, the media and the public in Norway since the first transaction with Statoil in 2012/13 in order to position itself as a relevant, reliable and experienced company. Wintershall has done so in exemplary fashion, in particular with multiplier events and extensive press work and online communication. There was also recognition from the jury for the company's intercultural and interdepartmental cooperation as part of the campaign.
