Enel Green Power begins construction of the Pampa Norte photovoltaic plant in Chile

Мая 06, 2015

With a total installed capacity of 79 MW, Pampa Norte will be capable of generating more than 200 GWh per year once fully operational.

Enel Green Power (EGP) has begun construction of the Pampa Norte photovoltaic plant, which is located in the municipality of Taltal, in Chile’s Antofagasta region.

The new plant, which will have a total installed capacity of 79 MW, will be able to generate more than 200 GWh per year once fully operational, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of almost 100,000 Chilean households, thereby avoiding the emission of more than 100,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.

The project will be supported by a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Empresa Nacional de Electricidad SA (Endesa Chile). The energy generated by the plant will be delivered to SIC (Sistema Interconectado Central), Chile’s Central Region Transmission Network.

In Chile, EGP runs the Talinay Oriente, Valle de los Vientos, Taltal and Talinay Poniente wind farms, which have an overall installed capacity of 340 MW, as well as the Diego de Almagro (36 MW), Lalackama (60 MW) and Chañares (40 MW) solar power facilities. The company also runs the Pullinque and Pilmaiquen hydropower plants, which have an overall installed capacity of 92 MW. The Group is also active in the geothermal sector, where it is exploring a number of concessions that have a potential installed capacity of over 100 MW.
