After completion of commissioning works and tests on the dried machine, at idle and under load, the unit was set for 72 hours of continuous operation. When this was checked the power, vibration and cavitation characteristics.
"Turbine worked in continuous mode for 72 hours without remarks, and certificate was signed. The unit is put into temporary operation, after which it will be put into commercial operation," said Chief Designer for Hydraulic Turbines Alexander Linnik.
According to the contract, signed in 2011 on the DneproHPP-II PJSC "Turboatom" carries out modernization of three turbines Nos 11, 17, 18 of propeller type with replacement of Kaplan type hydrounits. After modernization unit capacity of turbines will increase from 115 MW to 122 MW, the weighted average efficiency reaches of 93.5%, and diameter of runners will increase from 6.8 to 7 m.
Modernized hydroturbine No. 11 was put into operation in 2013, turbine No. 17 is in production.
