The research proceeded ahead of schedule, under a government contract which was signed in December 2014. The work was commissioned by Tsentrsibnedra (Central Siberian Region Department of Subsoil Resource Management). According to the contract, 1,585km of MOGT 2D seismic, resistivity, and gravimetric measurements are to be carried out. The study will be completed in the second quarter of 2016.
The project goal is the evaluation of the oil and gas prospects of the Anabar-Laptevo region, the identification of new zones of possible oil-and-gas accumulation, and recommendations of zones for licensing.
JSC VNIIGeofizika commenced work in this Arctic region in 2012.
