This launch provides an opportunity to retire legacy coal-fired equipment without reducing electricity generation or the overall power generation capacity of the power station. Cherepetskaya TPP will gain a much stronger competitive advantage within the Integrated Energy System of the Central Russia (IES-Center) due to lower fuel consumption, higher equipment reliability and higher margins.
LLC Inter RAO — Engineering, a subsidiary of Inter RAO Group, managed the construction project for the ninth power generation unit at Cherepetskaya TPP.
Core equipment of the new unit, including a turbine and a generator made by Power Machines, and an EMAlliance boiler unit, was made in Russia.
The new power generation unit is designed to achieve a significant reduction in pollutant emissions, dusting in coal warehouse, and water consumption, while eliminating wastewater pollution and reducing noise levels compared to older facilities.
A similar power generation unit No. 8 was launched at this power plant in Q4 2014.
