The illegal tapping offshoot was made of a caprolactone hose. It was strained, and as a result at the distance of 950 meters from the OTPL axis, outside the protected area, there was a diesel fuel leakage in a volume of 100 liters with a partial contact with the stream water surface.
The illegal offshoot from OTPL, which was set by unknown persons for the purpose of diesel fuel theft, was discovered by the staff patrols of the Leningradsky detachment of Transneft Security, LLC at 701 km of Kirishi - Primorsk oil products trunk pipeline on the evening of June 16, 2015.
The illegal tapping was liquidated on June 17, 2015 at 02:00.
At the moment 28 people of Transneft Baltic, LLC emergency repair crew are working at the site of the incident. Two turns of the booms have been installed using the equipment for local emergency oil spill (LEOS). The cleaning of the coastline, collection and removal of emulsion collected from the water surface are being conducted. The water and oil samples have been taken. The emergency repair services are still working at the site of the incident to completely eliminate the effects of oil product leakage.
The incident resulted in no injuries, other organizations, involved in the incident, are being detected. There is neither a threat for the population; nor prerequisites for emergencies.
The group of the office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Vsevolozhsky District of the Leningrad Region has been called to the site of the incident. The decision on initiation of legal proceedings is being made.
