The power plant is located in the municipality of Charcas and comprises 50 wind turbines of 2 MW of each.
Dominica II can generate more than 250 GWh per year – equivalent to the annual energy needs of around 143,000 Mexican households – while avoiding the annual emission of approximately 140,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. Together, Dominica I and II are capable of generating over 510 GWh per year.
EGP has invested a total of approximately 160 million US dollars in the construction of Dominica II, in line with the growth targets set out by EGP’s current business plan. The investment has been partially financed through a loan agreement with Banco Santander and covered by the Spanish Export Credit Agency (“CESCE”). Dominica I and II are supported by long-term PPAs for the supply of energy. Thanks to Dominica II, EGP’s installed capacity in Mexico now totals close to 500 MW.
