The new system has been erected in the scope of large-scale revamping of the Yuzhny Balyk LODS and is intended to ensure fire protection of the existing and projected buildings and installations at the facility.
An automatic firefighting pump station combined with the foaming agent storage and dosing unit has been constructed at the moment. The following operations have been completed, inter alia: assembly of the building framework, wall cladding and installation of windows; the concrete floor pouring and making of foundations for pumps and tanks have been underway, as well as installation of Russia-made firefighting pump units: five foam feeding pumps and three pumps to feed water for sprinkling of tanks. Equipment redundancy has made the system more reliable.
Besides, Transneft Siberia, JSC continues erecting two rooms for electrically-driven valves to make it possible to extinguish fires at booster and trunk pump stations, and process rooms adjacent to the tanks, plus two water storage tanks of 1,000 m3 each. Ring networks to feed firefighting water and foam to the protected facilities have been partially erected across the LODS perimeter. The length of each ring is 2.8 km.
The new integrated automatic firefighting system will enable to boost reliability of fire protection for a production facility, cut the maintenance costs.
As of now, six isolated firefighting stations are operating at Yuzhny Balyk LODS, which require additional equipment maintenance and power supply costs. “The integrated automatic firefighting system has been put in place in order to connect all facilities to the single system, controlled from one place — the operator room. All the data will be displayed at the oil product pump station operator’s monitor. This will help improve the promptness of obtaining data, easiness of maintenance, save human and technical resources,” says Anatoly Antonenko, Chief Engineer of Yuzhny Balyk LODS.
The IAFS is intended to be brought online in November 2015. The PS-2 of Yuzhny Balyk LODS will be connected to the system at the same time. The remaining facilities of the line operation dispatcher station shall be gradually connected to the IAFS, up until 2020.
