ATOMPROEKT will complete the development of concept design documents including the concept of the automated process control system, as well as the main architectural, design, and spatial planning solutions until the end of 2015.
"The main requirement of the customer was the priority of Hungarian regulatory documents in the development of the design documentation for the Paks-2 NPP. If a certain Hungarian code is not available, we, as the general designer, will use the respective EU codes. Russian codes will be utilized in particular cases, if approved by the customer and the Hungarian supervisory authority. Already in this year, our experts will carry out engineering surveys at the new NPP unit site and provide a report on whether the territory can be used for the planned facility", - said Sergey Onufrienko, JSC ATOMPROEKT CEO.
In 2016, ATOMPROEKT experts will need to provide the customer with a preliminary report concerning safety justification and probabilistic safety analysis for the Paks-2 NPP, which will help us to obtain licenses for power unit construction.
In the end of 2014, the Hungarian customer selected the typical NPP project with an LWR-1200 reactor installation designed by experts of St. Petersburg-based ATOMPROEKT for the planned Paks-2 power plant. This project is already implemented at the Leningrad NPP-2 in Russia, as well as the Belorusskaya NPP and the NPP in Finland.
The project provides for the installation of a 1200-MW light water reactor, four redundant active independent safety system channels, and passive safety systems operating according to the laws of physics, regardless of any "human factors". The safety systems for the project include a core catcher, a system for passive heat removal from under the reactor containment, and a system for passive heat removal from the steam generators.
