At "Turboatom" took place ceremonial commission of new equipment

At celebrations of commissioning of new equipment was attended Chairman of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Igor Rainin.

Acquainted with work of enterprise, Igor Rainin noted that "Turboatom" is the leader of Ukrainian mechanical engineering and strategic enterprise for economy of entire country. "More than 50 power plants of Ukraine are completed with turbines of "Turboatom", your products supplied in 45 countries of the world, scopes of tax payments and dues to budgets of different levels testifies professionalism and patriotism of all employees of your enterprise. "Turboatom" is power, a plant adopts new technologies and moves regional economy forward and today's commissioning of steel furnace with new system of gas cleaning is a confirmation of this. I pass words of gratitude for your labor on behalf of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko he thanks you for work for the good of the country"

Victor Subotin thanked Igor Rainin and Kharkiv Regional State Administration for attention, support and high estimation of labor of plant workers. "I want to assure that Kharkiv "Turboatom" is really the leader of mechanical engineering, on which a country can pin its hopes. Today we commissioned a modern steel-smelting furnace and system of dry gas cleaning. It is large socially-directed ecological project. Besides a positive effect for environment of region, commissioning of renewed system of gas cleaning at "Turboatom" it is a positive example for all enterprises of Kharkiv Region in issues of social responsibility of business, in caring about employees and people, living in Kharkiv".

Rewarding of plant employees took place upon completion of ceremonial part. For the considerable personal contribution in development of mechanical engineering of Ukraine, substantial labor achievements, high-class professional workmanship, long-term conscientious labor and on occasion of commissioning of new equipment the Letters of commendation  of KhRSA were awarded to five workers, five turbine constructors received gratitude of Head of KhRSA.

Construction of gas cleaning system became a part of technical retooling of steel-making area of steel foundry of workshop 50, where it is planned to carry out complex repair and modernization of two physically threadbare and obsolescent steel-smelting furnaces with system of gas removing and gas cleaning from two furnaces and new transformers.

At this moment one of two furnaces is modernized with a new transformer, and also commissioned system of gas cleaning of two furnaces. Total expenses are about 2.5 million US dollars. Due to high efficiency of gas cleaning system it is ensured effective catching of gases and dust, appearing at smelting of steel. Dust falls out in filters and removes. As a result, cleared gases are thrown out in atmosphere.

Modernization of steel-smelting production provides growth of performance of furnaces approximately in 1.5 times, and this in its turn may increase harmful emissions in atmosphere. Thus, during modernization of metallurgical production workers of appropriate services of "Turboatom" had to take into account the increase of amount of emission, ecological requirements and convenience of operation. "To correspond to all these parameters, we chose the new type of cleaning - dry gas cleaning. We decided to stop on bag hoses as such system allows reduce indexes of emission of dust up to 20 mg/m3 of the cleared gases. It minimizes the emission of hard wastes in atmosphere in accordance with European standards. Under our preliminary measuring content of dust in cleared gases now makes about 8 mg/m3 from one furnace", told Chief Engineer of PJSC "Turboatom" Grigory Ischenko.

Thus, chosen system allows not only follow ecological requirements but also considerably reduce harmful emissions in atmosphere. Also it is necessary to note that system of such gas cleaning supposes taking of gases from a furnace and its natural cooling through outward air.

Previously for cleaning of gas emissions "Turboatom" used technologies with use of water. Wet system of gas cleaning has a number of shortcomings, main of that, - power consumption. Nowadays units of cleaning of off gas of such type are obsolescent, cause require considerable consumption of power and thermal energy (unit of wet cleaning under technical requirements requires placing in heated building) and water.

According to Chief Engineer, new equipment is equipped by power efficient motor with frequency adjusting allowing control amount of bleeding gases. The system of cleaning of gases completed with Automatic Control System of Technological Process (ACS TP) that allows to control all necessary processes, and also to carry out automatic and manual adjustment of parameters, depending on modes of melting, types of steel etc. Besides it, system is responsible for moving away dust fell out on bag hoses, through their shaking.

Substituting of wet cleaning of off gas by dry will allow not only bring down expenses of thermal and electric power, and also exclude consumption of water during operation of gas cleaning. It will allow to increase efficiency of dust collection from 91 % up to 99.6 % and amount of dust  emitted in atmospheric air, will reduce in 4.4 times - from 31.415 t/year up to 7.113 t/year.

Designing, manufacturing and supplying of main and auxiliary equipment was carried out by SE "UkrRTC "Energostal". Enterprise also implemented building and installation works, supervision of erection, starting-up and adjustment works.

Simultaneously with construction of gas cleaning system in foundry workshop No 50 new steel-smelting furnace was commissioned, it intended for smelting of steel and cast iron with volume up to 9 t for melting

New equipment will allow stabilize chemical composition of smelted metal that significantly improves its quality. Furnace fully automated, equipped by corresponding sensors, controlling modes of work and new transformer with regulator of power and volume of consumed power.

ACS TP system operates motion of electrodes for providing of optimal electric modes. New system also will allow reduce time necessary for realization of the complete melting.

Advantage of new steel furnace is in it ecological compatibility and safety. After it commissioning scope and quality of smelted metal will increase, nomenclature of casting will be broaden and also production cycles will be reduced.

Modernized by "UkrRTC "Energostal" electric steel-smelting furnace ДС-5МТ differs in not only  considerably improved technical characteristics but also provides proper safety for operating personnel and also comfort in control of steel-smelting process on base of modern ACS TP system with output of all necessary information on monitor of workplace of steel maker", - told Dmitro Stalinskiy.
