INPP Received a Permission for One More Dismantling and Decontamination Project Implementation

In accordance with VATESI request license agreement for Unit 1 operations has been changed. This license allows dismantling and decontamination of equipment from Unit D-1 and D-0 (project 2207).

Equipment from D-1 unit consists of deaerators, feed units filters and pipelines, main steam pipelines, feedwater pipelines, power supply auxiliary systems and other.

The dismantling of equipment will begin in 2016 and should be completed in 2019. The preparatory works are taking place at Unit D-1 right now.

As a result of this project 3200 tons of radioactive waste will be dismantled. 3186 tons will be from Unit D-1 and 14 tons from Unit D-0.

This is the third dismantling and decontamination project developed by the INPP staff. In 2013, project B9-0(2) for equipment decommissioning of fast acting emergency core cooling system for Unit-2 reactor was developed. It was successfully completed in August 2015. Also in 2013, the development of project B9-1 (2), dedicated to dismantling and decontamination of Unit-2 turbine hall equipment was completed. Based on this project dismantling and decontamination works are taking place right now.
